Emanuel Gat Israel/France

“Did you know that you could dance salsa on Stravinsky?

Proof of this is the scintillating performance of the choreographer Emanuel Gat. His interpretation of the “Rite of Spring” is as iconoclastic as it is exciting. The Israeli artist has captured the lustful liveliness of salsa, which slips effortlessly into the percussive flow of the music. As for the ascent of sex, it explodes with a fatalist peak which is at the heart of the spiral of love..”

Rosita Boisseau, Le Monde

SACRE is a revised version of the piece originally created by Emanuel Gat to Stravinsky’s eponymous score back in 2004. A work for three women and two men, SACRE takes apart the mechanics of Cuban salsa dancing, and reassembles them to create a complex and dramaturgically charged choreographic score.

A free spirited and challenging reading of Stravinsky’s masterpiece, SACRE offers no notions of sacrifice, but rather a multitude of options for action.

SACRE received a Bessy Award in 2006 for its performances at the Lincoln Center Festival in New York.

Milena & Michael

Long term collaborators of Emanuel Gat, Milena and Michael share years of a joint artistic collaboration, as well as an intimate knowledge of Gat’s creative process. A dance reduced to its most fundamental elements, Milena & Michael is a reflection on the act of dancing, and at the same time a simple story of two people looking to connect. The work is a sort of zoom-in on the voids between movements, choreographic fragments, sounds and the two dancers.

Sara & Thomas

Long-term collaborators of Emanuel Gat, Sara and Thomas weave a meticulous conversation, a fine tuned yet expressive dialog between bodies, ways of using them, theatrical approaches and musical interpretations.

Genevieve & Karolina

Counterpoint as a field of research, as a natural phenomena present within any moving system, is being carefully examined and joyfully played with by two dancers. A light yet in-depth look into the nature of counterpoint, its inner logics and the information it might hold regarding human relations and interactions.
