editorial

this thematic festival has the purpose of thinking about our territory, combining the social with the cultural, the ecological, the scientific and the political with the artistic, using the work of researchers and scientists and creating orders for writers, artists of the Visual Arts and creators of the Performing Arts.
RESCUE is the word from which we built for 2020 a diversified program that recovers / rescues works and creators that are milestones in the history of contemporary national and international dance (Vera Mantero, Francisco Camacho, Jérôme Bel, Xavier Le Roy, Emanuel Gat, among others). We will present some choreographies / versions of the Rite of Spring (Stravinsky) and a small tribute to Pina Bausch, who includes an encounter with one of her former ballerinas, showing videos of her work and even public interventions involving the community). Parallel to the presentation of the shows, we will develop a set of training actions, meetings / conversations with creators, colloquia, workshops, guided tours / visits in Serra do Caldeirão and Ilha da Culatra, and other events where we will analyze, from different points of view, the Festival's theme, crossing thought, art and society. We will reflect on “the Anthropocene era, transformation paths for the rescue of the Planet”, particularly in our territory, involving the public, researchers, scientists and photographers. Starting from the example of choreographer Jérôme Bel, who with “Retrospective” assumes a new and responsible way of presenting his work, with a very small ecological footprint, we will disclose projects (good seeds) that intend to contribute to the rescue of our planet and we will present some outstanding works of contemporary dance of the last two decades.
